This decree establishes the minimum wages that employers in Honduras must pay starting January 1, 2016. The amounts vary according to the economic sector (agriculture, industry, commerce, etc.) and company size, aiming to guarantee decent income for workers and their families.

Considerations

That the Constitution of the Republic and the current labor laws guarantee the right of every worker to earn a minimum salary, taking into account that it is an essential income for him and his family, an important element of the cost of production for employers and a considerable part in the national economy.

That on the nineteenth (19) of December of two thousand thirteen (2013), the Minimum Salary Commission, composed of representatives of employer, worker and public interest, subscribed to a Minimum Salary Fixing Agreement for the years 2014, 2015 and 2016, establishing therein a safeguard clause applicable in the event that the year-over-year inflation rate recorded in December 2015 was greater than 8% or less than 4%, in which case, the three sectors: worker, employer and public, within the framework of the Minimum Salary Commission provided for by law, would initiate a process of revision of the Minimum Salary for the year 2016.

That in compliance with the aforementioned Safeguard Clause and in response to the request made by Employer Interest, the installation of the Minimum Salary Commission was proceeded with in the present year, in order to carry out the process of revision of the increment values previously agreed for the year two thousand sixteen, concluding said process with an agreement by majority vote, by means of which the ratification of the adjustments contained in the Tripartite Agreement of December 19, 2013, subscribed by the representation of employer, worker and public interest was proceeded with.
