Where AI Appears on Leyes.HN

We use AI from two providers — Anthropic's Claude, and Voyage AI for search embeddings — in five specific places:

• Background query understanding (automatic). Every search you make is enhanced by AI. We send only your search query (the text you typed) to Claude, which generates additional Spanish legal terms used to broaden the database lookup. This runs invisibly on every search — including searches typed in Spanish, English, or natural-language phrasing — and is what makes the search work equally well across both languages.
• Semantic (meaning-based) search (automatic). Alongside query understanding, we send the AI-expanded version of your query to Voyage AI, a separate AI provider, which turns it into a numeric representation used to find laws that mean the same thing as your query even if they're worded differently. This runs invisibly on every relevance-sorted search.
• Pre-generated law summaries. Every law in our database has a short AI-generated summary that appears at the top of its detail page. These summaries are written once when the law is added to our database, not on every page view. They are clearly labeled as AI-generated.
• AI answer panel (opt-in). When you check the "Search with AI" box on the search bar, your query and the text of matching laws are sent to Claude, which writes a plain-language answer above your search results, with a "Sources" list of the specific laws and articles it actually cited. This is off by default. You must consent each time you enable it.
• English translation. Where possible, we use AI to translate Spanish law titles and summaries into English so non-Spanish speakers can navigate the database.

Limitations You Should Know

• AI can make factual errors, even on topics it appears confident about.
• AI may miss recent amendments or court interpretations not present in our database.
• AI summaries simplify the law and may omit important nuance, exceptions, or procedural requirements.
• AI responses are not a substitute for reading the original law text or consulting an attorney.
• The AI does not know your specific situation, jurisdiction, or facts.
• Background query understanding may occasionally surface laws that are loosely related rather than directly on-point. Always check the result titles and summaries before relying on them.

What Gets Sent to Anthropic and Voyage AI

Background query understanding, sent to Anthropic (every search):

• Your search query (the text you typed)

That is the entire payload — no law content, no personal data, no metadata. The call typically takes under a second.

Semantic search, sent to Voyage AI (every relevance-sorted search):

• The AI-expanded version of your search query (not the raw law content)

Voyage AI is a separate company from Anthropic. It receives only this query text — no law content, no personal data, no metadata — and returns a numeric representation used to find conceptually related laws. This call also typically takes under a second.

AI answer panel, sent to Anthropic (only when you opt in):

• Your search query (the text you typed)
• The text of laws that match your query, so Claude has context to write the answer
• Your language preference (Spanish or English)

In none of these cases do we send your name, email, IP address, or account information. Anthropic does not train its models on data submitted through their API, per their commercial terms.

Your Choice

The AI answer panel is off by default. You will only see it above your results when you actively check the "Search with AI" box and confirm a warning. Pre-generated law summaries appear on every law detail page; if you prefer not to read them, scroll past to the law's full text below.

Background query understanding and semantic search run automatically on every search. If you do not want any of your queries sent to Anthropic or Voyage AI at all, you can use the Service without performing searches — for example, by clicking on category chips to filter laws, or by visiting specific law detail pages directly through URLs. Browsing the Service in this way does not trigger any Anthropic or Voyage AI call. The pre-generated summaries on law pages were written in advance and are served as static text; they do not call AI at view time.

Reporting Errors

If you find an error in an AI-generated summary or response, please report it via the report button on the law detail page or email us at hola@leyes.hn. We review reports and correct or remove inaccurate summaries.
