Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Leyes.HN ("the Service") at https://leyes.hn. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Service

Leyes.HN provides a searchable database of Honduran national laws compiled from public sources, including CEDIJ (Centro Electronico de Documentacion e Informacion Judicial), the TSC (Tribunal Superior de Cuentas), the IAIP (Instituto de Acceso a la Informacion Publica), and La Gaceta. The Service is offered for informational and educational purposes only.

Not Legal Advice

The Service is an informational tool. It is not legal advice. Laws may have been amended, repealed, or interpreted by courts in ways not yet reflected in our database. AI-generated summaries and answers are best-effort approximations and may contain errors. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or current applicability of any law shown.

For specific legal questions or matters that affect your rights, always consult a licensed Honduran attorney.

AI-Generated Content

The Service uses artificial intelligence for four user-visible purposes, from two separate AI providers (Anthropic's Claude, and Voyage AI for search embeddings):

  • (a) Background query understanding — runs automatically on every search to help the database return relevant Honduran laws across both English and Spanish queries, including informal or natural-language phrasing. Only your search query text is sent to Anthropic in this step; no law content is sent.
  • (b) Semantic (meaning-based) search — runs automatically alongside (a) on every relevance-sorted search. Your AI-expanded query text is sent to Voyage AI, a separate AI provider, to generate a numeric representation used to find laws that are conceptually related even when they do not share the same wording. No law content is sent to Voyage AI during a search.
  • (c) Pre-written law summaries — shown on each law's detail page, generated once when the law was added to the database.
  • (d) On-demand AI answers — when you opt in to "Search with AI", Claude reads the matching laws and writes a plain-language answer above your search results.

Opt-in for AI answers (item d). The on-demand AI answer panel is off by default. By checking the "Search with AI" box and clicking through the warning, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • AI responses may be incomplete, outdated, or factually wrong, including in ways that appear confident or authoritative;
  • AI may fabricate citations, decree numbers, or article references that do not exist;
  • Your query AND the text of matching laws will be transmitted to Anthropic in the United States;
  • You will independently verify any AI-generated information against the original law text before relying on it; and
  • You will not treat AI output as legal advice or as a substitute for an attorney.

Background query understanding and semantic search (items a and b). Whether or not you opt in to the AI answer panel, your search query text is sent to Anthropic on every search, and the AI-expanded version of it is sent to Voyage AI on every relevance-sorted search, to broaden and improve the database lookup. This is essential to search quality, including bilingual search and matching by meaning rather than exact wording. The same accuracy caveats apply: neither step is perfect and either may surface unrelated laws. If you do not want this, you can use the Service without performing searches — for example, by browsing categories or visiting law detail pages directly.

Pre-generated summaries. The summaries shown on every law detail page were generated by AI. They are clearly labeled. The same accuracy disclaimers apply.

Your responsibility. You assume all risk arising from your use of AI features and from any reliance you place on AI-generated content. We provide tools to verify (the original law text is displayed alongside every summary) and to report errors (via the report button or by email), but the responsibility to verify is yours.

Our right to modify or disable AI features. We may suspend, modify, or remove AI features at any time, with or without notice, including for individual accounts that abuse the feature.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or subscribe to a paid plan. By creating an account you represent that you meet this requirement.

Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your password
  • All activity that occurs under your account
  • Notifying us promptly of any unauthorized access

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to bypass rate limits, quotas, or other technical restrictions
  • Scrape, crawl, or extract large portions of the database without our written permission
  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute paid features
  • Reverse engineer the Service or attempt to derive its source code
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any third-party rights
  • Submit content that is abusive, defamatory, or infringes intellectual property
  • Abuse, automate, or excessively exercise the AI features, including programmatic queries designed to drive Anthropic API usage

Paid Subscriptions

Plans. Leyes.HN offers two paid plans: Pro and Despacho. Both are billed monthly in advance through Stripe in US dollars. The free plan is and remains free for all users.

Pricing. Pro is USD $19.99 per month at the standard rate. During our Founder pricing promotion, Pro is offered at a discounted rate of USD $9.99 per month. Despacho is USD $79.99 per month. All amounts in lempiras depend on your bank's exchange rate plus any foreign-transaction fees they may charge.

Founder pricing. The $9.99 Founder rate on Pro stays locked for you as long as your subscription remains continuously active. If you cancel your subscription, your Founder rate is forfeited, and a future resubscription will be at the then-current standard price.

Renewal. Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel.

Cancellation. You may cancel at any time from your /account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain access to your paid plan until that period ends.

Refunds. Subscription fees are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. If you cancel mid-period, you will not receive a prorated refund for the unused portion.

Price changes. We may change prices with at least 30 days notice sent to your registered email address. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the new price. Subscribers locked into the Founder rate remain exempt from increases while their subscription stays continuously active.

Service Availability

We make reasonable efforts to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, technical issues, or events outside our control.

Intellectual Property

Honduran laws themselves are public information under Honduras's Transparency and Access to Public Information Law (Decree 170-2006). The Leyes.HN platform — including its design, AI-generated summaries, translations, search algorithms, and aggregated database — is our intellectual property.

You may freely link to specific laws, cite information for personal or scholarly use, and share search results. Mass redistribution of the aggregated database or AI-generated content is not permitted without our written permission.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We expressly disclaim any warranty regarding the accuracy, completeness, or currency of AI-generated content.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $100. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including damages arising from your reliance on AI-generated content.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting hola@leyes.hn. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law) will survive.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Miami-Dade County, Florida.

Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email to registered users at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
