Lawyer Directory Terms

These terms govern applying for and holding a listing in the Leyes.HN lawyer directory ("the Directory"). They supplement, and do not replace, the general Terms of Service. By submitting an application, you agree to both.

Eligibility

The Directory is for licensed Honduran attorneys. By applying, you represent that you hold an active colegiación with the Colegio de Abogados de Honduras and that the identification and colegiación documents you upload are genuine, current, and belong to you.

Always Free

Applying to and holding a listing in the Directory is free and will remain free. We do not charge lawyers for approval, for keeping a profile live, or for appearing in specialty searches. Leyes.HN funds its operation through voluntary donations, not through the Directory.

What We Collect and How It's Used

The application asks for two kinds of information:

• Public profile information — your full name, colegiación number, firm name, office address, contact email and phone, specialties, languages, bio, and photo. If approved, all of this is published on your public Directory page.
• Private verification documents — a photo or scan of your colegiación card and national ID (and, if applicable, your notary credential). These are stored privately and used only by our team to review your application. They are never shown on your public profile or shared publicly.

How Applications Are Reviewed

Review means a member of our team looks at your uploaded colegiación card and national ID and confirms the application is complete, the documents appear genuine, and the name and colegiación number you provided match them. This is a document review, not a real-time check against a Colegio de Abogados de Honduras registry. Approval means your documents passed our review — it is not an independent confirmation from the Colegio that your colegiación is currently active or in good standing.

Applications are typically reviewed within 3-5 business days. If approved, your profile goes live immediately and you are notified by email. If rejected, you are told the reason and may correct the issue and re-apply.

Your Public Profile

By applying, you consent to the public profile information listed above being published on Leyes.HN and being indexed by search engines. You are responsible for the accuracy of everything you submit, and for keeping it current — you can update most fields from your account, and re-application is required to change your verification documents.

Advertising and Professional Conduct

Your Directory profile is a form of professional advertising. You are solely responsible for ensuring the content of your profile — including your bio, specialties claimed, and any description of your practice — complies with the rules on legal advertising and professional conduct set by the Colegio de Abogados de Honduras. Leyes.HN does not review profile content for compliance with those rules, and listing you does not imply that we have done so.

No Referral Relationship

Leyes.HN is a directory, not a referral or matching service. We do not refer clients to you, do not guarantee any volume of inquiries or business, do not vet the quality of your legal services, and do not take a fee or commission on any engagement that results from your listing.

Rejection, Suspension, and Removal

We may reject an application — for example, for expired, illegible, or mismatched identification documents — or suspend or remove an existing listing, at our discretion. Reasons include but are not limited to inaccurate information, an expired or inactive colegiación, misuse of the platform, or complaints we consider credible. You may also request removal of your own listing at any time by contacting us.

No Liability for Professional Services

Leyes.HN is not a law firm and does not provide legal services. We are not responsible for the professional conduct, advice, or services of any lawyer listed in the Directory, or for any dispute between a listed lawyer and a visitor who contacted them through their profile.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to approved lawyers by email.
